It also highlights future industry trends with a special focus on preparing for growth and the ‘golden decade’ of sporting events being hosted by the UK.

As well as the results of the research, two speakers closely involved with the Vancouver winter Olympics will be talking about their experiences of preparing for the Games and giving a valuable overview of how the UK tourism and hospitality industry can learn from Vancouver in readiness for London 2012.

go2 was created by the British Columbia tourism industry in Canada as an independent association to assist the sector to recruit, retain and train employees. Go2 played a key role in recruiting and training staff to work at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

2010 Legacies Now is working with over 4,000 organisations to find innovative ways to see communities create lasting legacies from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and beyond. The workshop will have a particular focus on accessibility and legacies learned from Vancouver relevant to the hospitality and tourism sector.

The experience of both organisations will prove invaluable to tourism bodies, local and regional government, and businesses looking to support their preparations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by hearing first-hand from Canadian organisations closely involved with the Vancouver Games.

The cost for attending the dedicated ‘Learning from the success of the Vancouver Winter Olympics’ costs £100 per delegate (exc VAT). An invoice will be issued with confirmation of the booking. In the event of any cancellation after a booking has been confirmed, a £20 administration fee will be charged. For cancellations with less than 7 days’ notice, the full cost of the workshop will be charged in the event that People 1st is unable to re-sell the delegate place.
